David has spent more than 20 years overseeing the creative and production departments of clients and advertising agencies in Australia and Asia, including senior roles at Euro RSGC, Y&R and Clemenger BBDO. Striving to solve the problems of creating great work in a constantly changing environment helped David create Expressway Studio.

Michael Neilsen

Founder & Director

Michael Neilsen is Co-Founder and Director of Expressway Studio. As former Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer of leading agencies including Clemenger BBDO, he operated at board level with responsibility for financial stewardship, governance and risk oversight. In his role as Company Secretary, he oversaw compliance frameworks, transparent reporting and organisational accountability. He brings this governance led discipline to Expressway Studio, embedding strong financial controls, clear approval pathways and auditable processes into the agency’s operating model.

David Watson

Strategy Director

David has over 25 years experience working across the public and private sectors in the UK and Australia. He specialises in brand and creative strategy and has devised multiple award-winning awareness and behaviour change campaigns for the Scottish and UK governments. Having worked both client-side and in agency leadership, David brings a practical, outcomes-focused approach, aligning strategy with operational realities to drive measurable impact and sustainable change. He is a Fellow of the Australian Marketing Institute and the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

Andy has worked at some of the world’s most creative agencies. From Bates Dorland London to DDB Sydney and Publicis Australia. He has created award winning campaigns for brands such as Heinz, Volkswagen and AirAsia, and was recently inducted into the Brisbane Advertising Hall of Fame. Andy has created effective behaviour change campaigns for Queensland Fire & Emergency Services, Health & Wellbeing Queensland, Containers for Change and NSW Environment Protection Authority.

Tracey Fraser

Account Director

Tracey is a senior account leader with over 20 years’ experience delivering communication campaigns across government and corporate sectors. She has supported Queensland Government initiatives including Domestic and Family Violence prevention, Elder Abuse awareness and transport campaigns. Tracey understands the governance, stakeholder and timeframe pressures government teams operate within, and is focused on delivering accurate, high-quality work on time and to brief.

Liam Toohey

Liam is an experienced Digital Project Manager with a decade of hands-on expertise in web development, SEO, digital systems and managing remote production teams.
